Question about eating? “food emergency response”

Question by Teri {A Proud Mommy!}: Question about eating?
I posted this question once, but didn’t get much response. I am hoping I can get a little more feedback this time.

I had a severe case of hyperemesis at the beginning of my pregnancy that included four hospital stays and three emergency rooms visits. I even had to have a PICC line inserted in my arm. My sickness is not nearly as bad as it was as I approach the 30 week mark in a few days. However I am still limited to what I can and can not eat in order to not puke, and am on medication for the nausea. How long after delivery were you able to eat like you did pre-pregnancy? I really miss some of my favorite foods!!

If you are not breast feeding, you will be able to eat whatever you want right away since it can longer harm the baby. If breastfeeding (I dont know what you were eating before) but I would ask your Dr

I really can’t answer your question but I just wanted to send you some sympathy. That must be torture for so many months. I had morning sickness for 7 months with my first and nothing as severe as you’re describing.

Hopefully, the minute pregnancy hormones aren’t dominating you will be on your way to being back to normal. I remember feeling like my stomach would never be normal again and then over a few days that feeling just went away entirely and I could eat again.

I know for gestational diabetics the problem goes away literally with delivery. It’s pretty much immediate. Here’s to hoping it’s the same for you.

You will be put on clear liquids till you have a bowl movement. or pass gas.

i ate like a horse after delivering.

what i ate for 9 months????? french fries, hash browns, fried potatoes, sometimes Mashed potatoes, or potato soup. Anything with potatoes but mainly fried. As well as diet Pepsi. i am serious, it is all I could hold down. Ate at thanksgiving and 20 min later was in the bathroom.

ate at christmas and 20 min later was in the bathroom.

chicken broth with crackers worked also. occasionally i could muster a glass of milk, but seldom.

good luck.
